In November 2013, we drove a convoy to El Tuito, Cabo Corrientes, Mexico.  The folk there needed some vehicles, so we took an ambulance, a 'handy-dart' bus and SUV and a full-size school bus.

The vehicles were loaded with donations - everything from sports equipment to sewing machines, kitchen equipment and fabrics.  It took us about ten days and on many of them, we wished the vehicles has air-conditioning! Along with many adventures on the way, we were hosted by other Rotary clubs along the route.

Before we left, a number of Rotary clubs on the Island had donated cash to build washroom blocks at schools in a few of the villages around El Tuito.  We took a look at these projects and were able to identify other needs in the area, which led to this year's plan.  That plan is to deliver another ambulance - to the village of Mayto, where there is a small clinic that also serves other villages in their vicinity.  They also need wheelchairs and other miscellaneous items.  We have also been collecting scrubs for Plasita de luc, a centre for children with disabilities in Puerto Vallarta.

The major project however, is the building of teacher accommodation in Mayto.  Teachers do not stay long because there is presently little or no accommodation for them and, in fact, they frequently sleep in the classroom!  The build of this facility has started, oversee n by the local Rotary Club in El Tuito.  We shall add our labour pool to move it along.
